To start 2024 in fashion, some great news arrived from the other side of the Atlantic. I won maximum distinction in the 8th Annual edition of the IIC - International Imaging Competition, with the title of International Photographer of the Year 2023.
Now in its 8th edition, this competition based in Canada receives images from photographers from all over the world, in many distinct categories.
Explaining what are the trophies in the image above, from right to left, here is:
- Silver Country Winner - Portugal (2nd place by country, for having the second highest scored image in the competition);
- International Photographer of the Year 2023 (it's the biggest trophy, the competition's maximum award, awarded for being the category with the highest total of points among all categories);
- Most scored image in the "Digitally Created Fantasy" subcategory;
- Most scored image in the "Fine Art – Architecture" subcategory;
- Winner of the "Fine Art" category (awarded by the sum of the 4 highest scoring images in a category);
- Most scored image in the "Still Life" subcategory.
The image "Black Slices" (top) was the second highest scoring image in the competition, with 97.46 points.
I have participated in many competitions, but this is without a doubt one of the most complete and organized, as there is support from the organization from the initial phase in order to help authors select categories for their images, there is an official group on Facebook for clarify any doubts, accepts images from all areas of photography, has a monetary prize and the trophies are fantastic, made in crystal with an exclusive design.
This victory becomes more special as it is the first time that the top winner of this contest is from a country outside of North America. This award has been awarded six times to photographers from the USA and one from Canada. For the first time, the trophy came to Europe, and Portugal, in this case.
These were the 3 images, which, together with the "Black Slices" image (above this post) earned me the maximum distinction, for the highest classification obtained by 4 images, in a category, in this case, it was in the "fine art" category ".
